Marco Marangoni is Full Professor of Experimental Physics at Politecnico di Milano. He carried out his studies and career within the Institution: master's degree with honors in Electronic Engineering in 1994, PhD in 1998, permanent researcher since 2001, Physics Professor since 2010. Since 2017 he has been leading the Lecco branch of the CNR Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnologies. He has a long experience in the field of lasers, spectroscopy and optical sensors. His current research activity is focused on the development of sensors and spectrometers for precise and sensitive detection, identification and quantitative analysis of different chemical species in the gaseous phase, both for fundamental physics studies and for applications such as breath analysis, air quality and combustion process control that are relevant to the project. He has coordinated 1 European project, 3 international research projects and 5 national projects. He has published more than 100 papers on international ISI journals with more than 4400 citations (source Scholar) and an H-index 34, and he is the inventor of four patents in the field of photonics. He was director of the Winter School 2016 on optical frequency combs organized by the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) of Trieste, he is a member of the scientific committees of the international conferences CLEO (Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics) and Europhoton in the sectors of lasers and optics, he was supervisor of several PhD students in Physics, as well as external member of various commissions for the assignment of a PhD in Physics at foreign universities.
