Alberto Calloni
Associate Professor
I graduated in Engineering Physics at Politecnico di Milano in 2006 and obtained a PhD in Physics (XXII cycle) in 2009 from the same university. Since January 2022, I hold there a tenure as Associate Professor.
During my PhD studies, I characterized point defects in metal alloys and semiconductor materials by means of Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy. I also studied porous materials to produce positronium atoms.
At present, I work in the growth and characterization of ultra-thin metallic or oxide films, of interest for magnetic applications, and in the growth of ordered molecular films. I am specialized in surface science techniques such as photoemission spectroscopy (also with spin resolution) and X ray adsorption.
Thesis
Spin-resolved electron spectroscopies from thin films and interfaces for spintronics applications
Study of the electronic properties of molecular thin films using electronic spectroscopy techniques
Study of the structural properties of molecular thin films using X-ray adsorption spectroscopy
